It is located is located downtown on the northwest corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and University Avenue, at the south entrance to The University of Texas at Austin. The Center is four blocks from the Texas State Capitol and eight miles from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

 

Tuition Information and Eligibility

The COST SALT Basics School is designed to provide opportunities for new state tax professionals (0 to 3 years of experience) to significantly upgrade their knowledge base. It also is an excellent basic SALT refresher for tax professionals moving back in to state taxes from federal/international taxes. It incorporates separate modules covering income tax theory, sales tax theory, income tax compliance and sales tax compliance.  No prerequisites are required.

The COST SALT Basics Course Tuition for full paying students includes:

  • A private, fully equipped hotel room for arriving on Sunday, January 21st and departing on Friday, January 26th. If travel plans differ from the Sunday arrival through Friday departure, please advise Karen Galdamez. Each additional night will be $169 (plus taxes) and you will be charged separately by the AT&T Conference Center upon checkout.
  • 5 full days of meals and snacks beginning with dinner on Sunday, January 21st and ending with lunch on Friday, January 26th.
  • Comprehensive study and reference materials on an electronic tablet.
  • 5 days of small group training by recognized leaders in the state and local tax field.
  • Evening Activities.
  • In-Room Internet (passcode will be given at hotel check-in on Sunday, January 21st).

The COST SALT Basics Course Tuition for commuter paying students includes:         

  • 5 full days of meals and snacks beginning with dinner on Sunday, January 21st and ending with lunch on Friday, January 26th.
  • Comprehensive study and reference materials on an electronic tablet.
  • 5 days of small group training by recognized leaders in the state and local tax field.
  • Evening Activities.
  • Daily parking vouchers.

Meals

All meals will be served in at AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center. All day refreshment/snacks will be available. A COST badge must be worn at all times. 

Cancellation Policy/Restrictions

Cancellation policy for the SALT Basics School: There will be a $75 cancellation fee for cancellations received before 5:00 p.m. on December 15, 2017.  Cancellations received between December 16th and December 31st will receive a 50% refund.  No refunds will be allowed after December 31st. All cancellations/substitutions must be in writing. 

A Practitioner Partner is a consulting organization such as a law firm or accounting firm that has joined COST’s Practitioner Partner Program.  For more information on becoming a Practitioner Partner, please contact Caroline Galleher at cgalleher@cost.org.

By registering for the COST SALT Basics School, attendees hereby agree to allow COST to use any photos taken of them during the school in news media, website, publications, articles, marketing pieces, etc.

Continuing Education Credits

COST will assist in applying for Continuing Education credit for the 2018 SALT Basics School.  COST is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.learningmarket.org.
